Lauren Stradley began her career wanting to help children and families when she pursued her Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders back in 2010. After graduating in 2014, her desire for wanting to help people with communication differences continued to grow. She decided to pursue her Master’s in Special Education with a focus in Deaf Education. Her love of teaching and passion for helping children and families navigate public education with communication differences pushed her to receive a 4.0 in her Master’s program.
During her time at Georgia State University, she worked as a graduate research assistant in the Center for Literacy and Deafness (CLAD) which developed reading curriculum normed on K-2 students with hearing loss. She watched hours of video being able to analyze running records on students to determine the accuracy and reading rate of each student after receiving instruction in the curriculum.
After graduating with her master’s in 2017, Mrs. Stradley moved to New Orleans and took the position of Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) in St. Charles Parish. In this role, she determined eligibility, saw students on an itinerant basis and became the expert in her district.
Mrs. Stradley looks forward to making a major impact by advocating for students with disabilities across the country.
